Ravichandran Ashwin has called for Bhuvneshwar Kumar's return to India's T20I setup after the veteran pacer's stunning all-round performance in Royal Challengers Bengaluru's two-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Bhuvneshwar finished with figures of 4/23 and smashed a crucial six in the final over to guide RCB to victory.
Ashwin praised Bhuvneshwar's performance, saying he had done enough to deserve another chance in India colours. 'Hashtag BringBackBhuvi', Ashwin said, highlighting Bhuvneshwar's ability to take wickets with the new ball and execute death overs nicely.
Bhuvneshwar's performance saw him rip through MI's top order, dismissing Ryan Rickelton, Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav during a fiery opening spell. Ashwin was particularly impressed with the way Bhuvneshwar adapted quickly to the conditions, calling it 'proper Test-match bowling'.
The win lifted RCB to the top of the IPL standings and knocked MI out of the playoff race. Bhuvneshwar currently leads the Purple Cap race with 21 wickets in 11 matches.
The Indian team selectors will likely consider Ashwin's comments when deciding on the T20I team's lineup for upcoming matches. The team's next fixtures and squad selections will be closely watched in the coming days.
