DMK president and outgoing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday urged Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to take immediate steps for the formation of a new government in the state, citing the need to carry forward the welfare of the state. According to Stalin, the Election Commission has released the list of newly elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and the Governor has dissolved the 16th Legislative Assembly.
The Governor's order dissolving the assembly and the Election Commission's release of the new MLA list have paved the way for the formation of a new government. Stalin emphasized that forming a new government is not only the need of the hour but also a crucial duty in a democracy.
Stalin made the appeal on social media, where he posted a message urging the Governor to take steps without delay. The development comes after the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election results were announced.
The immediate next steps will involve the Governor taking necessary actions to facilitate the oath-taking of the newly elected MLAs and the formation of a new government, which is expected to take place in the coming days. The court or the Governor's office is yet to announce the exact timeline for the new government formation.
