Police said the victims — Prince Kumar, Abhishek Kumar and Roshan Kumar — had boarded the auto at Charlapally Railway Station for travel to Kothur. En route, the driver stopped the vehicle and, along with his accomplices, assaulted the trio and stole ₹1,800 in cash, two silver chains, a silver ring and two mobile phones. The victims were also coerced into transferring ₹5,000 via Google Pay under threat.
After fleeing the scene and abandoning the victims on the highway, the suspects were traced by police following a complaint filed the same day. Investigators recovered the stolen cash, mobile phones, silver ornaments and the auto-rickshaw used in the crime.
The accused were produced before a judicial magistrate on Saturday night and remanded to Chanchalguda Jail. Further investigation is ongoing.
