The NCB move follows the earlier detainment of Punjab Police constable Karandeep Singh on Oct 14, who was seized with a large heroin cache.
Investigators are combing through WhatsApp threads and bank statements that link Lakhwinder Singh, village resident Babbu alias Vishal and Delhi‑based Sukhmanpreet Kaur to the smuggling ring.
Karandeep Singh, stationed in the anti‑drone unit, allegedly supplied Lakhwinder Singh with flight‑path details that allowed smugglers to drop the drugs by drone along the India‑Pakistan border.
Punjab Home Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said the state police would cooperate fully with the NCB and called for swift judicial action to dismantle the cross‑border network.
Local shopkeeper Arjun Singh, who saw the intercepted consignments, said the 15‑kg haul, valued at roughly ₹10 crore, has already disrupted the village market supply.
The investigation will move forward with a charge sheet expected to be filed in the district court next month, where prosecutors will present the digital and financial evidence.
