Mrunal Thakur Declines Raaka After Nine Months, Says She Awaits 'Meaningful Role'

When Mrunal Thakur sat down with Mid‑Day, the chatter about Raaka met her silence, and she chose to talk about the silence itself.

She told the reporter, "I’m not signing anything until a role speaks to me—meaningful, not just another banner." And she added that a typical shoot can stretch to 120 days, so she wants the craft, not the clock.

Raaka, meanwhile, is already a storm—Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone’s first on‑screen meeting, directed by Atlee, who turned "Ala Kali" into a visual feast. Rashmika Mandanna and Janhvi Kapoor add glint, while the film shattered a world record with 37 performers captured in real‑time.

Mrunal’s choice feeds into a larger dialogue about actresses choosing substance over superstar, a narrative that fans now carry into their ticket‑purchasing decisions.

As the film gears up for a December 2026 release, the only question left on the marquee is whether the absence of a role like the one Mrunal declined will be felt by the audience.
