CIJWS Trains 83 NCC Cadets from Mizoram in 14-Day Skill Bootcamp

CIJWS opened its gates to 83 NCC cadets from Mizoram on September 21, launching a fortnight‑long bootcamp that ended on October 4. The cadets, recruited from across the state, spent two weeks under the Army’s tutelage. The program was designed to sharpen discipline, confidence, and leadership among young boys and girls. CIJWS officials said the initiative is part of a longer strategy to embed national service values in local youth.

Training began with basic drill, followed by rigorous physical fitness drills that pushed the cadets to new limits. Their schedule also included live‑fire practice, map reading, and fieldcraft exercises that mirrored real‑world military scenarios. Cadets learned how to use night‑vision devices and conduct survival techniques in dense jungle settings. The curriculum further covered first aid and team‑building drills that tested their resilience. By the end of the week, the cadets could navigate a jungle terrain and execute coordinated maneuvers.

The school arranged visits to the Information and Research Centre, the IED Hall, and the Technovation Hall, exposing the trainees to cutting‑edge military technology and innovation. These tours offered hands‑on insights into modern warfare equipment and the importance of emerging tech in defense. The cadets commented that seeing live prototypes changed their perception of battlefield dynamics.

Mixed‑group sessions fostered camaraderie among participants from different districts of Mizoram, reinforcing a collective identity that transcends local rivalries. The program also featured motivational talks that encouraged the cadets to take up leadership roles within their NCC units. The Director of CIJWS highlighted that such exposure can shape future officers who value discipline and national integration. The school plans to repeat the program next year with an expanded cohort.

The cadets will return to their respective units in Mizoram to apply the skills learned. CIJWS will monitor their progress through follow‑up visits during the next training cycle.
