Ahmedabad-based AI mobility technology company drivebuddyAI has secured a $2.5 million contract to deploy its six-camera advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) across 3,000 heavy-duty trucks operated by a major Indian logistics fleet, the company announced. The deployment, the largest single-customer order for drivebuddyAI to date, includes driver drowsiness detection, facial recognition, vehicle-driver mapping, cabin occupancy monitoring, safety scoring and cloud telephony integration.
The contract has the potential to expand to 10,000 vehicles over five years, increasing the total value to approximately $10 million, according to company statements. The customer, an existing drivebuddyAI user, previously piloted the system and is now scaling deployment following operational validation. The company is targeting around 8,000 total deployments by fiscal year 2027, with an additional 2,000 vehicles in the pipeline across smaller fleet orders.
drivebuddyAI’s platform, trained on over 4 billion kilometers of Indian driving data, complies with India’s AIS 184, European GSR and Euro NCAP standards, positioning it for integration with OEMs and entry into export markets. The company is in talks with commercial vehicle makers, particularly electric bus manufacturers, and Tier-1 suppliers for integration. Roadzen, a Nasdaq-listed mobility and insurance tech firm, holds a 75% stake in drivebuddyAI and supports its global expansion into the US, UK and Australia.
Fleet operators in hazardous materials, chemicals, steel and heavy logistics are increasingly moving from pilot programs to full-scale AI safety deployments, driven by operational efficiency and safety gains beyond regulatory mandates. The company’s technology feeds into risk assessment, underwriting and claims management through Roadzen’s insurance partnerships.
The company will continue expanding its fleet deployments and advancing OEM integration talks in the coming months, with a focus on domestic scaling ahead of anticipated regulatory mandates for ADAS in new commercial vehicles.
