Pravinsinh Vanol, president of the Gujarat Pradesh Youth Congress, stripped 49 senior office-bearers of their positions on November 3. The punishment is immediate and indefinite. Vanol, alongside IYC national secretary Manpreet Singh Mani, signed the directive citing a total failure to show up for the INDIA bloc's rally at Ramlila Maidan on November 1.
The purge hits deep into the state's leadership hierarchy. The list includes 18 general secretaries, seven state secretaries, and 24 district and city presidents. The suspension order explicitly names the unit heads from Ahmedabad, Amreli, Anand, Aravalli, Gandhinagar, Junagadh, Mehsana, Patan, and Panchmahal. Rajkot and Vadodara’s city and district presidents are also on the chopping block.
The party isn't guessing about attendance. A Gujarat Congress leader explained that the Indian Youth Congress uses an in-house application to digitally track presence at such events. The data was unambiguous: all 49 flagged leaders from Gujarat were absent. An instruction had been issued to all national, state, and district-level office-bearers to attend the march. They didn't.
The suspension letter, released on November 3, uses blunt language. It notes the "serious" nature of the absence and confirms the suspension will stand "until further notice." For the Gujarat unit, this signals a shift toward strict compliance with the central party's mobilization drives. The next move will likely come from the suspended leaders, who may appeal to the state executive or wait for the "further notice" to clarify if the suspension is permanent.
