Three people were arrested by Umarabad police in Tamil Nadu for the assault and subsequent death of a 35-year-old farmer, V. Arun Kumar, following a dispute over rash driving in Devalapuram village near Ambur on Saturday. The accused were identified as M. Karthik, 35, his father B. Mani, 64, and A. Nazer, 55, a local petty shop owner.
Police said Arun Kumar was waiting for a friend near a village shop when Karthik allegedly rode his two-wheeler recklessly, causing dust to spill onto the victim. An argument ensued, escalating into physical violence. Both Karthik and his father Mani assaulted Arun, leaving him seriously injured. Officers responded to the scene, rescued the victim, and admitted him to Government Taluk Hospital in Ambur before transferring him to a private hospital in Vellore, where he died.
The three accused were taken into custody and remanded to judicial custody at Central Prison in Vellore. Police have registered a case, and the investigation is ongoing. The court will hear the case in the coming days as part of the legal process.
