A 23-year-old woman from Manipur, employed as a nanny at a residence inside the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore campus, has alleged sustained physical and psychological abuse by her employers over six years. In a police complaint, she accused Amar and Anshu of denying her food, confiscating her mobile phone, and subjecting her to physical violence, particularly when she fell ill, beginning in June 2021.
She stated that on April 15, she was assaulted at around 2:30 a.m., had her hair pulled, and was thereafter under constant surveillance, preventing her from leaving the house. Fearing retaliation, she did not approach authorities until May 4, when she was allegedly denied food again and sought help from neighbors, who provided food and allowed her to use a phone.
The nanny contacted her aunt and the president of the Kuki Students' Organisation Bangalore (KSOB), leading to the filing of a formal complaint. Police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation into the allegations against the couple.
The case is under investigation, and authorities are expected to question the accused and review evidence from the residence. The court will likely take cognizance once the initial probe is complete.
