PVTG Tribal Women Demand Safe Drinking Water in ASR District
Women from the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) Kondhu community in Dayarthi village, Ananthagiri mandal, Alluri Sitharama Raju district, have demanded that the government provide safe drinking water facilities. The villagers, who number around 450, are currently dependent on contaminated stream water, resulting in frequent illnesses such as malaria, cold, and fever.
The villagers alleged that despite the implementation of schemes like Jal Jeevan Mission and Janman, drinking water facilities have not reached their village, and they are forced to spend nearly ₹2,000 on transportation to access medical treatment in Devarapalli.
Tribal women, including Vantala Radha, Lakshmi, Kanthamma, and Devi, have demanded borewells and household tap connections to address the water crisis.
CPM district executive member K. Govinda Rao, along with local leaders Sridhar, Somanna, and Narsinga Rao, has urged the government to resolve the issue immediately, warning of a protest at the ITDA office if no action is taken. The government is expected to respond to the demands and take immediate action to address the drinking water crisis in the village.
