Executive Magistrate of South‑West District remanded CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka to judicial custody until Oct. 21, 2026, citing deliberate breach of bonds and immediate breach of peace.
The order noted that the two respondents had "deliberately breached" the bonds submitted on Oct. 11, 2026 and had "immediately committed the breach of peace" in the case, showing no respect for law and habitually calling protests at de‑notified areas.
When the magistrate examined the fresh sureties supplied by the respondents, both were deemed unfit. One surety's photograph on the bond did not match the Aadhaar card; the other failed to provide basic details about Das, thereby lacking control over the respondents' court appearances.
Das's lawyer sought immediate release, arguing that the leaders had not called for a protest after Oct. 10 and had individually visited Jantar Mantar. The case will be heard again on Oct. 21, 2026, with the respondents remaining in custody until then.
