West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari chaired his first Cabinet meeting on May 11, 2026, days after being sworn in, with five ministers and senior government officials in attendance. Adhikari stated the new government would uphold constitutional principles and move away from what he described as partisan governance.
The Cabinet approved six decisions, including land transfer to the Border Security Force (BSF) for border security, to be completed within 45 days. The government pledged welfare support for 321 families of BJP supporters recognized as martyrs.
All central schemes previously unimplemented in West Bengal, including PM Vishwakarma Yojana, PM Ujjwala Yojana 3.0, and Ayushman Bharat, will now be rolled out in the state. Government officials will be allowed to attend central training programs, reversing a policy of the previous administration.

Implementation of the approved decisions will begin immediately, with departments directed to issue necessary orders within the week.
