India's commerce secretary Rajesh Agrawal said India and Canada may finalise a trade pact, with two chapters already finalised.
Canada, which has been diversifying its trade basket under the Biden administration, sees the pact as a hedge against rising U.S. tariff pressure on Canadian exports.
Agrawal also highlighted that India and China have launched discussions on trade imbalances and supply‑chain issues, signalling a broader strategy to strengthen regional ties.
The draft is slated for review by the ministry next week, with the aim of finalising the pact in the coming months.
