Diljit Dosanjh has rejected claims that he plans to enter politics, reaffirming his commitment to entertainment. The statement comes after an article titled 'Can Diljit Dosanjh be the new political face of Punjab?' circulated online, suggesting civil society activists and retired soldiers had urged him to join politics.
Responding to the speculation on social media, Dosanjh wrote in Punjabi: 'Never. My job is to entertain. I am very happy in my field. Thank you so much.' The post, shared on May 9, 2026, directly refuted any political ambitions.
Earlier in the month, Dosanjh addressed pro-Khalistani demonstrators waving banned flags during his concert in Calgary, Canada. He urged them to stop creating disturbances, saying they could take their protests elsewhere. The incident drew attention for his direct response to separatist symbols.
Dosanjh, who starred in the film 'Border 2,' is preparing for the release of his upcoming romantic drama 'Main Vaapas Aaunga,' directed by Imtiaz Ali and co-starring Sharvari Wagh and Naseeruddin Shah.
'Main Vaapas Aaunga' is scheduled to release in theatres on June 12, 2026. No further public statements from Dosanjh on political matters are expected.
