The Enforcement Directorate on Friday provisionally attached a 189.75‑square‑metre plot in Khalilabad village, Sant Kabir Nagar, worth ₹53.46 lakh to Shamsul Huda Khan, a former assistant teacher at a government‑aided madrasa in Mubarakpur.
Khan, who acquired British citizenship in December 2013, kept claiming his state salary and pension for a decade after losing Indian nationality, a fact the ED says he hid.
According to the ED, the 10‑year gap in his service record was never verified by the Minority Welfare and Waqf Department, yet he was granted voluntary retirement in 2017 with a regular pension.
The agency alleges Khan used his surrendered Indian passport, PAN, Aadhaar and voter ID to buy the Sant Kabir Nagar plot, channeling ₹53.46 lakh credited to his account as proceeds of crime under PMLA.
The case began with an FIR filed by Uttar Pradesh Police and led to February searches; the property attachment now awaits a court order, with the ED poised to file a permanent attachment petition.
