Congress Leader Mani Shankar Aiyar Criticizes Party's Tie-Up with TVK

The Congress party's decision to side with the TVK has been criticized by veteran leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, who called it a "dreadful" move that "smacked of low political opportunism". Aiyar stated that the party has violated Mahatma Gandhi's 1925 maxim that Swaraj should be a government based on morality.
The Congress party had thought that other smaller parties would follow suit and side with the TVK, but this did not happen, and the party failed to ensure Vijay's majority, according to Aiyar.
However, it has now emerged that the smaller parties, including the VCK, CPI, and CPM, have also backed Vijay, helping him achieve a majority.
The DMK has called the Congress move "backstabbing" after the party ditched its long-standing alliance with the DMK to offer support to the TVK.
The Congress party will likely face repercussions from its decision, with Aiyar questioning who the party would tie up with in future elections if Vijay manages to cobble together a stable majority. The court of public opinion will resume its hearing on the Congress party's actions, with the people of Tamil Nadu set to decide the fate of the party in future elections.
