Jio Platforms Ltd. priced its ₹30,213‑crore IPO between ₹1,065 and ₹1,119, and the issue was fully subscribed in just 100 minutes, a record speed for an Indian public offering. Bids swelled to ₹50,000 crore, giving a 2.35‑times subscription rate.
QIBs alone pushed their allocation 7.09 times, bidding 34.77 crore shares against 4.90 crore reserved. Domestic institutions took 16.98 crore, foreign institutional investors 14.97 crore, while mutual funds added 2.02 crore. Retail investors, however, only managed 4.91 crore shares, a 0.58‑times subscription of the 8.50 crore allocated.
The speed and depth of demand match only a handful of recent mega‑issues. Bajaj Housing Finance filled its allotment by 2 pm on opening day; LG Electronics India reached full subscription by the end of its first day in 2025; Hyundai Motor India’s 27,870‑crore issue captured just 18 percent by close of day‑one.
Anchor investors were allocated 8,110 crore at the top price, with bids for the 212 allotments exceeding ₹2.5 lakh crore. The issue will close on October 23, and at ₹1,119 per share the company would be valued at roughly $108 bn, surpassing Hyundai Motor India and cementing Jio Platforms as the largest IPO by value in India.
After the closing, shares opened at ₹1,119, and analysts anticipate a steady uptick as the company starts trading, with no guidance yet beyond the hefty valuation.
