Father Alleges Foul Play in Daughter's Death at Indian Police Station

A father has alleged that his daughter died under suspicious circumstances at the Krosuru police station in Palnadu district, India, during an inquiry into a complaint she had filed against a police constable. According to the police, the woman had lodged a complaint in 2021 against police constable P. Venkateswara Reddy, accusing him of having an extra-marital relationship with her and later refusing to marry her.
The woman was called for an inquiry into the case on May 5 and was found dead on the police station premises later that day, leading her family to suspect foul play. Palnadu Superintendent of Police B. Krishna Rao said the woman appeared weak when she arrived for the inquiry and was offered food by police personnel after noticing her condition.
The police claim that the woman vomited and accidentally fell from the first floor of the building during the episode, suffering seizures, and was shifted to a hospital where she was declared dead. The family was informed immediately after the incident and initially declined to take custody of the body but later took it.
Investigations into the incident are underway, with the police looking into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death. The court will likely review the case in the coming days, and official responses from the police and other authorities are expected soon.
