Police sources say the investigation into an alleged unauthorised entry case involving Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das has been transferred to the Delhi Police Crime Branch. The move follows a court order that cancelled their bail on Oct. 11, 2026, after the two were found to have breached undertakings to stay away from the de‑notified protest site at Jantar Mantar.
Ranka and Das, who run the CJP, were detained earlier this month for organising protests that challenged Delhi’s restrictions on demonstrations near heritage sites. Their mobilisation of crowds at Jantar Mantar, a location no longer allowed for rallies, drew police attention.
The magistrate cited police concerns that the leaders could stir further unrest at the de‑notified site and other non‑designated locations. He also pointed out that their assurances of no repeat were insufficient, noting repeated violations of earlier orders.
The court flagged irregularities in the identity documents of the sureties presented by Ranka and Das, ruling them unreliable and ordering the filing of fresh sureties.
The Crime Branch will now sift through evidence, interview witnesses, and may file additional charges against the leaders. A hearing before the Special Executive Magistrate is expected within the coming weeks.
