The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an Inspector of Posts of Wanaparthy Division in Telangana on May 8 for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹30,000 from a complainant. The case was registered on May 7 against the Superintendent and Inspector of Posts of Wanaparthy Division and other unknown persons over allegations of extorting ₹1.3 lakh from the complainant and demanding an additional ₹30,000 for releasing substitute salary dues.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the Inspector of Posts red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe amount. The accused was produced before the Principal Special Judge for CBI cases in Hyderabad and remanded to judicial custody till May 20.
Searches were conducted at two residential premises linked to the accused at Badangpet in Rangareddy district and Warangal Cross Road in Khammam. An investigation is under way.
The CBI will continue its investigation into the bribery case, and the accused will remain in judicial custody until the next hearing on May 20.
