The NIFTY 50 slid sharply today, reflecting a wider market correction that has opened a window for selective buying.
Amisha Vora, Chairperson and Managing Director of PL Capital, cautions that the correction may last one to two quarters before a full V‑shaped rebound materialises. She attributes the delay to persistent oil price pressures, a weak rupee and lingering inflationary concerns.
Vora pinpoints the power sector—Tata Power, CESC, Adani Power—as a prime candidate for investors, citing secured earnings, growth prospects and valuations that remain within reasonable bounds. She notes that these stocks can be added gradually, accumulating positions as the market stabilises.
Beyond power, the analyst flags export‑oriented pharma and textile exporters for their upside potential in a depreciating rupee environment. Capital goods and financials, she adds, will benefit from India’s nascent capex cycle and steady credit growth.
On the AI infrastructure front, Vora dismisses the recent sell‑off as a short‑term blip that does not alter the long‑term data‑center narrative. She cites Blue Star’s rising cooling demand and the expansion of Indian data centres as evidence of sustained growth.
Investors with a long‑term horizon are encouraged to stay patient, capitalise on the correction, and selectively target sectors that combine earnings visibility with attractive valuations. The market’s next move will hinge on macro‑economic data and the pace of oil price normalization.
