The Pune Police filed a 5,053‑page chargesheet on Saturday in the city’s High Court, accusing Siya Goyal, her lover Chetan Chaudhary and a third suspect Ritesh Hange of orchestrating the death of 26‑year‑old businessman Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort on June 18.
The chargesheet alleges the trio first plotted to hire an outsider to kill Agarwal, then abandoned the idea after fearing exposure; they resorted to learning how to commit murder from online videos, ChatGPT prompts and podcasts on police evasion.
Investigators say the accused scouted Lonavala’s cliffs and settled on Lohagad because a prior fatal fall there could mask a homicide; they even created a duplicitous Instagram handle, ‘Mahi’, to lure Agarwal into the trap.
A failed push on June 14 left Agarwal wounded and the couple’s Bali honeymoon plans ruined when Goyal shredded his passport on June 6; police now have over 100 witness statements, call logs and forensic data to support the indictment.
With the chargesheet in court, the case will be heard next week, and trial proceedings are expected to commence shortly thereafter.
