Maharashtra SSC Pass Percentage Declines for Third Consecutive Year

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) released the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination results for 2026 on Friday, reporting a pass percentage of 92.02% among 15,42,472 candidates who appeared. This marks the third consecutive year of decline, following 94.10% in 2025, 95.81% in 2024, and 93.83% in 2023. A total of 14,20,486 students passed the examination.
Girls outperformed boys by 5.40 percentage points, with 94.96% of female candidates passing compared to 89.56% of male candidates. Of the 7,22,045 girls who appeared, 6,85,672 passed, while 7,34,814 of 8,20,427 boys cleared the exam. Among divisions, Konkan recorded the highest pass percentage at 97.62, while Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar had the lowest at 88.41. Other divisions included Kolhapur (95.47%), Mumbai (94.97%), and Pune (94.24%).
Maharashtra School Education Minister Dada Bhuse congratulated successful candidates and encouraged those who did not pass, emphasizing that one exam does not define a student’s future. He urged reappearing candidates to utilize the available opportunity for re-examination. The board will release supplementary exam schedules in the coming week.
