Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti is set to sign a four-year contract extension that will keep him in charge through the 2030 World Cup, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said Thursday. CBF President Samir Xaud stated he is "certain" the extension will be formally confirmed before Brazil's departure for the 2026 World Cup.
Ancelotti, 66, took over as Brazil's head coach last year and guided the five-time world champions through qualification for the upcoming tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Italian has previously managed Real Madrid, AC Milan and Chelsea, and has expressed his desire to continue beyond this year's World Cup.
Xaud made the remarks Thursday at the FutPro Expo conference in Fortaleza, noting that the CBF and Ancelotti's legal team are finalizing details of the new deal. Ancelotti is scheduled to announce his final 26-man squad on May 18 in Rio de Janeiro, ahead of a send-off match against Panama at Maracana Stadium on May 31.
Brazil will be based in New Jersey during the 2026 World Cup and are drawn in Group C alongside Morocco, Scotland and Haiti. The CBF expects the contract extension to be officially confirmed within the coming weeks.
