Earlier this week, 31‑year‑old Harshit Lavania plummeted from the 21st‑floor balcony of the Centurion Park Tropical Garden Society in Greater Noida after refusing to open the door when his wife knocked—his first refusal in a month of tense silence.
Lavania married in 2024 and had been living separately from his wife for six months over a dispute that escalated into a mental health crisis, according to his family.
Greater Noida police are questioning his wife and examining the complex’s CCTV footage, the officers said, while no formal complaint has been lodged yet.
A family member, Narendra Thakur, a resident of the complex, said the man had been under severe stress and that the incident was a tragic culmination of domestic tensions.
Investigators will now assess whether negligence or domestic violence charges could be applied, with a preliminary report due next month.
