Saurav Das, a member of the Centre for Justice and Peace, demanded an FIR after independent journalist Rosie alleged that Delhi Police officer Vivek Bhagat groped and pushed her while she covered the detention of AISA activist Neha Bora at Jantar Mantar on Saturday. Rosie's video message, posted by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, claims Bhagat assaulted her for three hours inside Parliament Street Police Station, demanding a copy of the FIR over her complaint.
Hundreds of journalists and activists gathered outside Parliament Street Police Station in the early hours, chanting "time's up" and demanding accountability. CJP co‑convener Ashutosh Ranka and member Ratna Singh joined Das, while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Delhi Police on X for delaying an FIR and questioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s oversight.
Delhi Police said it needed time to review the video footage of the incident, but no FIR has yet been registered. The police claim the review should not take more than half an hour, yet they are holding a meeting with the CJP delegation to discuss the allegations.
The protest is scheduled for 11:00 on Sunday, with journalists, lawyers and activists planning to march outside the police station and demand the immediate release of the FIR and a transparent investigation into Vivek Bhagat’s conduct.
