Himanshu Bhau, whose Interpol red notice has spanned Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, once forged a passport to escape India and allegedly set up a criminal network in Portugal. A rival to jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, Bhau has been linked to a string of murders, kidnappings, and extortions that have rattled the Delhi‑NCR region.
In September, gym trainer Vijay Kumar was shot dead in south Delhi’s Aya Nagar after being lured from a gym. Around 15 rounds fired near Hansa Chowk, and the attacker fled; an FIR has been registered. The victim’s family told police that the attack stemmed from a long‑standing village feud.
Earlier this year, dairy businessman Ratan Lohia was gunned down near his home in the same locality. Police say over 60 rounds were fired after attackers spent hours scouting the area. The killing is believed to be retaliation for the earlier death of 24‑year‑old Arun, son of Rambir Lohia, and may involve gangster Neeraj Faridpuriya.
A social media post purporting to be from Bhau claimed responsibility for the gym trainer’s death and issued a warning in Hindi: “Running away won’t help; come out into the field. I won’t let anyone run away.” Police say the post references the “Bhau gang” and includes the phrase “Since‑2020.”
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal said the police have formed multiple teams to trace the accused. The case will be forwarded to the US‑India extradition tribunal for review.
