The silver jubilee celebrations of the Swami Vivekananda Memorial in Belagavi at the Sri Ramakrishna Mission Ashram began on Friday. Bhagwan naam Sankirtan, Sri Ramakrishna Homa, spiritual discourses, cultural programs, and musical performances were organized, with S.P. Gurudas presenting a Harikatha on Bhagwan Sri Ramakrishna and Sangeetha Katti Kulkarni presenting the “Sharanadasa-Vani” performance.
The celebrations will continue over the weekend, with Ninad Ashok and Nritya Ankalkar Rohit Mane presenting a cultural performance on Saturday, followed by Raghunandan Panasikar presenting Bhajanasandhya.
Swami Suhitanandaji Maharaj will deliver the benedictory address on Sunday, and other events include “Viveka-Gana-Chintana”, a cultural program based on Vivekananda’s poems, and a sitar performance by Poorbayan Chatterjee.
The memorial, which was inaugurated on January 23, 2004, has been actively engaged in social service for the past 25 years, with initiatives including a free eye clinic, a computer training centre, and scholarships for underprivileged students.
The court will not be involved in this event, however, the ashram will continue its social service activities and the silver jubilee celebrations will conclude on Sunday, with the ashram's officials and monks planning to review the event's success and plan for future activities.
