Infant Rescued Within 48 Hours of Kidnapping in Hyderabad; Five Including Two Juveniles Arrested
HYDERABAD - A six-month-old infant was rescued within 48 hours of her abduction in Suraram, Hyderabad, with police arresting five persons including two juveniles in connection with the case. The accused were identified as Sridevi, 35, Karthik, 18, Johnson, 24, and two juveniles aged 17, all Karnataka natives working in the catering sector who were residing in Hyderabad.
The incident occurred in the early hours of May 4 when the child's mother, Navaneetha, reported that unknown persons kidnapped her baby girl from opposite Narayana Mallareddy Hospital around 2 a.m. Police formed four special teams and registered a case based on the complaint.
Investigators revealed the crime was premeditated, with Sridevi hatching the plan to procure a baby for her childless sister-in-law. The group conducted reconnaissance at the hospital on May 3 before returning that night to target a family sleeping on a footpath, abducting the infant and fleeing on a motorcycle.
Using CCTV footage and technical evidence, police tracked the suspects to a function hall in Rajendranagar where they were apprehended on the night of May 5, safely rescuing the infant. Authorities seized a motorcycle and five mobile phones used in the offence.
Police continue their investigation into the case while the infant remains under medical observation.
