Sanjay Dutt's political drama 'Aakhri Sawal' will release on May 15, a week later than initially planned, the film's makers confirmed while releasing the official trailer. The movie also stars Amit Sadh, Neetu Chandra, Tridha Choudhary, and Sameera Reddy in key roles.
Directed by Abhijeet Mohan Warang and written by Utkarsh Naithani, 'Aakhri Sawal' centers on Vicky, a sharp but unstable scholar who publicly accuses his mentor, Professor Gopal Nadkarni, of institutional bias. The confrontation escalates as media coverage, political interests, and public sentiment turn the debate into a high-stakes psychological conflict.
The film references major historical events including the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi and the Emergency era, framing them within a broader inquiry into national identity and truth. The narrative builds toward a final, unresolved question tied to long-buried secrets, according to the official synopsis.
The film is produced by Nikhil Nanda and Sanjay Dutt, with Puneet Nanda, Dr. Deepak Singh, Gaurav Dubey, and Ujjwal Anand as co-producers. Stanley Mudda handled cinematography and Sanjay Sankla edited the film.
'Aakhri Sawal' is set for theatrical release on May 15 across India.
