DMK Elects Udhayanidhi Stalin as Legislature Party Leader

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has elected Udhayanidhi Stalin as its legislature party leader, according to party sources. Udhayanidhi Stalin, the son of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, will lead the party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, which has 234 members.
The DMK has 59 MLAs and will function as the principal opposition in the House. K N Nehru, a former DMK minister and senior leader, has been chosen as the deputy legislature party leader, while E V Velu, also a former DMK minister, has been elected as the party whip.
The Tamil Nadu Assembly is currently led by the TVK government, which was formed with the support of the Congress, VCK, CPI, CPI (M), and IUML, gathering 120 MLAs to cross the 118 majority mark.
