On Thursday, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist Seema Shyam Bhairi inaugurated the International Day of the Midwife at KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences in Hubballi, saying midwives and nurses are the true healers of patients through their care and support. Dr. Bhairi emphasized that behind every safe birth, there is the silent courage and therapeutic touch of a midwife.
Senior consultant anaesthesiologist Shobha A. Mudaraddi also spoke at the event, stating that a hospital's reputation is built by the dedication and compassionate service of its nurses.
Advanced critical care practitioner Deepak Bagi from the U.K. noted that skilled midwives are powerful leaders capable of transforming global maternal healthcare.
The event, held under the theme 'One Million More Midwives', was presided over by principal Sanjay M. Peerapur, who said the healthcare world needs midwives empowered with exceptional knowledge and skill. The court will not be involved in this matter, but the Institute of Nursing Sciences will likely continue to promote the importance of midwives and nurses in healthcare.
