Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by Vijay, marched in front of a key civic building in Chennai on Thursday, aligning itself with the Congress‑led INDIA bloc that has been agitating over alleged electoral roll irregularities.
The rally focused on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, a process critics argue has distorted representation and favored the ruling party.
The gathering included leaders from Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Indian Union Muslim League, and the Communist Party of India (Marxist), illustrating a coalition that spans both national and regional parties.
VCK leader SS Balaji told ANI, "When the CJP raised their voice against Dharmendra Pradhan for his resignation, it came out very soon… At the end of the day, justice prevails, and democracy wins."
Congress MP Vijay Vasanth added that the Election Commission has been working in favor of the BJP, urging the CEC to step down. The protest will pressure the CEC to resign before the INDIA bloc’s next meeting, scheduled for Friday.
