Chirayu Rana's attorney, Daniel Kaiser, has denied claims that Rana faked his father's death, stating it was a 'dad-like figure' who helped raise Rana. Rana, a former employee of JPMorgan Chase, has filed a lawsuit against Lorna Hajdini, alleging sexual harassment and race-based harassment.
Rana's employment history has been marred by frequent job changes, with stints at Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley, Carlyle Group, and an affiliate of Apollo Global Management.
According to reports, Rana was transitioned out of his role at CrossBoundary in 2022 due to his demeanor in the workplace. Kaiser has rejected these claims as false and an attempt to smear Rana in the press.
The lawsuit against Hajdini alleges that the assault started in late 2024, and Rana took leave from the office citing his father's death. Rana was put on paid leave while JPMorgan tried to mediate the claims, later offering him $1 million to settle.
The court will resume hearing on the lawsuit, with Kaiser stating that they look forward to the truth and facts coming to light through court proceedings.
