The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has completed the tender process for the Regional Ring Road (RRR) and the expansion of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway, NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar confirmed on Sunday. The projects are expected to begin construction soon, following discussions with Telangana’s Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy during a meeting in Hyderabad.
Minister Venkat Reddy urged NHAI to accelerate the widening of NH-65 into an eight-lane corridor, citing frequent accidents on the current stretch and describing it as a 'death road'. He also informed Kumar about the state government’s plan to build a 7.1 km double-decker elevated corridor between L.B. Nagar and Hayatnagar, for which a detailed project report has been submitted to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Venkat Reddy brought several other pending highway projects to NHAI's attention, stressing their importance to Telangana’s economic and industrial development. He called for faster execution of all NHAI-monitored projects in the state to improve connectivity and road safety.
NHAI will review the submitted project reports and initiate construction work on the RRR and Hyd-Vijayawada expansion in the coming weeks, officials said.
