Passenger With Hantavirus Removed From KLM Flight Before Departure

A passenger who later died from hantavirus was briefly on board KLM flight KL592 from Johannesburg to Amsterdam but was removed by crew before departure on April 25 at 11:15 pm local time, the airline said Wednesday. Citing the passenger's medical condition, KLM stated the decision was made not to allow them to travel.
The flight departed for the Netherlands after the passenger was taken off the aircraft, KLM added. The airline did not disclose the individual's nationality or specific symptoms observed during boarding.
Dutch health authorities are contacting people who were on the flight as a precaution, according to KLM. The airline emphasized there is no known risk to passengers or crew based on current information. The court will resume hearing on Tuesday.
