On Tuesday, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy accused Congress and Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar of mishandling a protest march in Delhi, saying the CM would soon be removed from office.
The incident unfolded during the INDIA bloc’s march toward the Supreme Court, where opposition leaders demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Video circulating on social media shows Congress MP Rahul Gandhi pulling Shivakumar by the collar as the two approached the Supreme Court; the footage also captures Shivakumar being pulled back by security personnel amid the crowd.
Kumaraswamy, standing beside a BJP flag during the march, declared, "The day is not far when even his chair will be pulled away," implying an imminent political upheaval within Karnataka’s ruling coalition.
Shivakumar remains silent about the incident, while Congress officials have yet to issue a formal statement.
The remarks are likely to trigger a swift response from the Congress leadership as the party prepares to defend its alliance with Shivakumar in the upcoming Karnataka assembly polls.
