Two Schools in Jammu & Kashmir Struggle to Recover from Operation Sindoor

Three students from Christ High School in Poonch were killed in Pakistani shelling during Operation Sindoor, which was launched in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead. The school's principal, Father Shijo, said the students were trying to move to safer locations when they were hit by shells.
The school has been struggling to come to terms with the loss, with students and staff still traumatized by the events. The school held silent prayers for the dead on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor and visited the families of the victims.
In Pulwama, the Madrasa Taleem ul Quran school was damaged in a blast caused by an unidentified aerial object, with the nature of the explosion still unknown. The school has not received any compensation for the damage, which is estimated to be around ₹23 lakh.
The school's coordinator, Shabir Ahmad Sheikh, said the administration has not provided any assistance, despite requests for financial help. Local legislator Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra has also written to the government for compensation, but so far, none has been provided.
The immediate outlook for the schools is uncertain, with the staff and students of Christ High School still dealing with the trauma of the war and the Madrasa Taleem ul Quran school waiting for compensation for the damage caused by the blast. The administration is expected to respond to the requests for financial assistance in the coming days.
