A national conference on aerospace quality and reliability held in India on Friday stressed the need for a unified quality and reliability framework for the aerospace industry. The conference, themed 'Assuring Quality and Reliability excellence for an Atmanirbhar Aerospace Ecosystem', was jointly organized by the Society for Aerospace Quality and Reliability (SAQR) and the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC).
VSSC Director A. Rajarajan inaugurated the summit, emphasizing the need for advanced quality tools like predictive artificial intelligence (AI) for an Atmanirbhar aerospace system. SAQR President and former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairperson S. Somanath urged start-ups to adopt a 'quality culture'.
The conference featured technical talks by experts, including Prabhakar V. Varde, K. P. Sreekumar, and Karthik Raghunandan, who discussed topics such as cyber resilience and supply chain ecosystems.
The immediate next steps for the industry include implementing the recommended unified framework and adopting advanced quality tools, with further discussions and implementations expected to follow in the coming weeks. The Indian Space Research Organisation and other industry stakeholders are expected to play a key role in the development and implementation of the unified framework.
