SEBI sealed adjudication proceedings against five Adani entities, collecting ₹1.51 crore in penalties as of September 22. The move follows a probe sparked by Hindenburg’s July 2023 report, which alleged related‑party disclosure lapses and audit irregularities.
Adani Enterprises paid ₹76.05 lakh, Adani Total Gas ₹9.75 lakh, AWL Agri Business ₹9.75 lakh, Adani Green Energy ₹45.50 lakh, and Adani Energy Solutions ₹9.75 lakh, totalling ₹1.51 crore. The breakup shows the bulk of the fine on the greener arm of the group.
Analysts point out that the fine is negligible compared to the group’s 2024 revenue of ₹1.24 trn and market cap of ₹8.5 trn, framing it as a compliance cost rather than a systemic risk.
Investors are watching the upcoming November 2024 earnings for any further governance updates. Meanwhile, stock prices have been steady, with Adani Enterprises up 1.2% and Adani Green down 0.5% after the announcement.
