Shakespeare Ranch owners announced a new asking price of $125 million for the 700‑acre estate in Glenbrook, Nevada, after the property failed to attract a buyer since its 2024 debut.
The ranch stretches from Lake Tahoe’s eastern shore, boasting multiple lakefront homes, a 465‑foot private pier, and a 19‑century barn that anchors its annual rodeo tradition.
Former President George Bush once visited the property, remarking that “they don’t make barns like this in Texas,” while Hollywood actors and other wealthy figures have stayed at its guest cottages over the years.
Lake Tahoe’s luxury market has surged, with multimillion‑dollar waterfront homes selling fast amid California’s looming wealth tax; Nevada’s lower tax rates have pulled buyers from the Bay Area seeking long‑term residency and investment.
Real‑estate broker Christine Perry told SFGATE that a Silicon Valley client bought a Nevada home as a speculative investment, spending little time there, as they “prepare themselves for the future.”
Sellers now anticipate closing a transaction within the next six months if a buyer meets the $125 million price tag, while the listing remains the most expensive on the lake’s Nevada side.
