Bengaluru Police Arrest Four for Stabbing, Robbing Engineer Lured via Dating App

Bengaluru police on Wednesday arrested four individuals for the violent robbery and stabbing of a 27-year-old civil engineer who was lured to a meeting through a dating application. The suspects, identified as Darshan, Sunil, Chandan, and an associate, allegedly targeted the victim after communicating with him for several days on the 'Grindr' platform.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed at the Yelahanka Police Station, the victim was directed to Palanahalli Gate near Bagalur Road for a meeting. Upon arrival, he was intercepted by four men and forcibly taken to a secluded area near Venkatala. The attackers threatened to expose the victim's private activities to his family before stabbing him in the head, neck, and abdomen.
During the assault, the suspects coerced the victim into providing his UPI password. Police officials confirmed that approximately Rs 15,000 was transferred from the victim's State Bank of India account to a PhonePe account controlled by the accused. The victim, who sustained serious injuries, was rescued by a friend and is currently receiving treatment at Valence Hospital.
The Yelahanka Police have registered a case of robbery and assault under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigators stated that the suspects are being interrogated to determine if they have been involved in similar honey-trap operations across the city.
