Tanya Nasir, 47, from Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, was sentenced to five years in prison in 2024 after admitting to fraudulently obtaining senior NHS nursing roles using fake qualifications and fabricated experience, including false claims of military service and intensive care work. Cardiff Crown Court heard she received £51,397.58 while working in Band 7 positions despite being qualified only at Band 5 level.
The court ordered her to repay £278.13, the total in her bank account, citing her current reliance on benefits and lack of assets. The sum will be split between Hillingdon NHS Trust and Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. Nasir worked at Hillingdon Hospital and managed a neonatal unit at Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend before her deception was uncovered.
Prosecutors said Nasir falsely claimed to have qualified as a nurse in 2010, fabricated certificates, and lied about employment at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and military deployments in Afghanistan, Kosovo, Syria, and Kenya. Her conviction led to being struck off the nursing register.
The court set a deadline of 6 August 2026 for repayment, warning of an additional month in prison if she fails to comply. Authorities said they would pursue further recovery if she acquires funds or assets in the future.
