Telangana Records Drop in Maximum Temperature to 42°C Amid Forecast of Thunderstorms

Telangana's peak temperature dropped to 42°C on Thursday, May 7, 2026, in Adavi Devula Palli, Nalgonda, down from 46°C recorded a week earlier, according to the Telangana Development Planning Society. Maximum temperatures across 33 districts had exceeded 42°C seven days prior, while the previous day's high stood at 38.9°C.
The highest readings on Thursday included 41.8°C in Kaddam Peduri, Nirmal, and 41.7°C in Mangapet, Mulugu. In urban areas, Hyderabad recorded a maximum of 40.7°C, Rangareddy 39.9°C, and Medchal Malkajgiri 39.6°C, all below the 42°C levels seen a week earlier.
Very light to moderate rain was reported in 162 of the state's 621 mandals on Thursday. The India Meteorological Department's Hyderabad office issued a forecast of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, expected in isolated parts of Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, and Mahabubnagar on Friday, May 8, 2026.
