The Mysuru and Chamarajanagar District Congress Committees have adopted a resolution recommending the nomination of B.J. Vijay Kumar, president of the Mysuru Rural District Congress Committee, to the Karnataka Legislative Council. The resolution was passed at a meeting held in Mysuru on Saturday evening in the presence of multiple legislators and former lawmakers from the region.
Mysuru City Congress Committee president R. Murthy stated the recommendation comes ahead of expected vacancies in the Legislative Council. MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah endorsed Kumar, citing his 25 years of disciplined party work and support during his own political entry in 2016. Several MLAs, including Tanveer Sait, D. Ravishankar, and Anil Chikkamadu, acknowledged Kumar's consistent role in elections and organizational duties.
The meeting, chaired by Murthy, was attended by MLAs Puttarangashetty, A.R. Krishnamurthy, Darshan Dhruvanarayana, Harish Gowda, and former legislators Maritibbe Gowda, G.N. Nanjundaswamy, M.K. Somashekar, Kalale Keshavamurthy, Sunita Veerappa Gowda, Bannur M. Krishnappa, and N. Dharma Sena. Representatives from various local bodies and former MUDA chairpersons K. Mari Gowda and H.V. Rajeev also participated.
The resolution has been formally forwarded to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Congress party high command for consideration. The party leadership is expected to decide on nominations before the impending Legislative Council vacancies are filled.
