DCB Bank Ltd posted a 28.3% year-on-year surge in net profit for the September quarter, closing the period with ₹236 crore compared to ₹184 crore in the same period last year. It marks the fifth consecutive quarter where the lender has delivered its highest-ever quarterly profit after tax. The numbers confirm a steady climb in earnings power, particularly as the bank navigates a competitive retail lending landscape.
The engine behind this growth was clear. Net interest income (NII) jumped 17.3% to ₹699 crore from ₹596 crore a year ago. Operating profit followed suit, rising 26% to ₹383 crore. These figures suggest the bank’s spread management is working. It’s not just about volume; it’s about pricing and cost discipline.
Asset quality improved in tandem with earnings. Gross NPAs dropped to 2.29% from 2.43% in the previous quarter, while net NPAs fell to 0.73% from 0.84%. Both metrics are at multi-year lows. The provision coverage ratio (PCR) stood at 81.38% as of September 30, 2026, or 82.01% when excluding gold loan NPAs. This buffer gives the bank room to absorb future shocks without hitting the bottom line.
Capital position remains robust under Basel III norms. The capital adequacy ratio stood at 16.63%, split into 14.57% Tier I and 2.06% Tier II capital. Manoj Kutty, Managing Director and CEO, highlighted the balance sheet strength. "Robust growth in both deposits and advances, steadily increasing operating profit, Gross NPA & Net NPA at multi-year lows and PCR at a multi-year high, culminating in the highest-ever quarterly PAT for the fifth consecutive quarter, ROA in excess of 1% and ROE in excess of 14.5%," he stated.
Despite the strong quarter, the stock dipped. DCB Bank shares ended at ₹201.95 on the BSE, down ₹4.00 or 1.94%. The market seems to be pricing in the upcoming capital raise. Reports indicate DCB Bank is in talks with private equity and strategic investors to raise ₹1,000 crore. Investors are likely waiting to see the terms of this deal before re-rating the stock. The next catalyst will be the outcome of these negotiations and the Q3 earnings release.
