A fire safety mock drill was conducted Friday at the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, as part of Fire Safety Awareness Week, in coordination with the Disaster Management Department. The exercise aimed to enhance staff preparedness in responding to fire emergencies and to promote the correct use of fire safety equipment.
GGH Superintendent S. Manikya Rao and Administrator K. Addayya directed doctors and security personnel to improve awareness among staff on fire prevention and the operation of fire extinguishers. They emphasized the need for constant readiness to respond to fire incidents within the hospital premises.
The drill saw participation from doctors, nurses, security and sanitation workers, and medical students. Chief Security and Risk Management Officer Madhavilatha, Nursing Superintendent Jaya Lakshmi, and other officials were present during the programme.
Fire safety training will continue throughout the awareness week, with additional drills and orientation sessions scheduled for hospital staff across departments.
