Bank of Baroda, holding a 63.97% stake, announced on Oct 26 that its wholly owned arm, bob Securities & Giltedge, has begun operations as a non‑banking financial company.
The new NBFC will focus on government securities and debt capital markets, positioning itself to act as a market‑maker and support liquidity across the sector.
Managing Director Debadatta Chand said the launch underpins the bank’s strategy of building specialised capabilities and diversifying through dedicated subsidiaries.
By leveraging the RBI Retail Direct platform, bob Securities aims to broaden retail participation in government securities, a move that could draw more individual investors into the debt market.
With the launch, the bank’s presence in debt and securities markets is expected to strengthen, potentially influencing pricing and depth in the segment while aligning with its broader diversification agenda.
