Delhi Police issued a 12‑point advisory on flag etiquette in Delhi after the Cockroach Janta Party’s “Lehra Do Tiranga” march, reminding citizens of the Flag Code and the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act.
The rules specify that the flag must occupy a position of honour, never be flown at half‑mast without government permission, and must never have the saffron band facing down.
The advisory further prohibits the flag from being used as drapery, on clothing, in costumes, or as decoration on cushions, napkins, or building facades, and forbids any lettering or use as a receptacle.
Delhi Police warned that non‑compliance may trigger penalties under the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, including fines and imprisonment, urging citizens to respect the tricolour to avoid legal consequences.
